A canoe trip down the Mandalselva River is a wonderful experience.
The Mandalselva River is Norway’s southernmost and one of the country’s best salmon rivers. Here, you can do much more than just fish for salmon. The river is also ideal for canoeing, where you paddle through scenic surroundings and enjoy a magical sense of calm. If you are lucky, you may encounter beavers and other wildlife along the way.
This section of the river is slow-flowing, with constant movement in the water but no waves. This makes it safe and comfortable for everyone, even those with little or no paddling experience. A paddle, life jacket, and map are included.
You can choose the length of your canoe trip yourself, but it is recommended to make arrangements with Adventure Norway in advance. They are happy to pick you up—along with your canoe—at a pre-agreed location further downstream.
The nature along the Mandalselva is beautiful, and we recommend bringing a packed lunch so you can take breaks along the way. On warm summer days, it’s also a good idea to bring swimwear so you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the river.
