Your Journey:

1st Floor: Guided Tasting Experience – The Skrei Fishing Trilogy

The adventure begins on the first floor, where you’ll meet our guide and storyteller. They will lead you through an exciting tasting experience that explores the history of Arctic cod fishing through four flavorful elements served from Full Steam’s own kitchen:

Cod Roe/Caviar: Savor a portion of smoked cod roe, a traditional delicacy. Learn about its journey from cod roe to the rich abundance of Skrei in the Barents Sea, and how this delicacy has become a treasure in Northern Norwegian culinary culture.

Cod: Continue with other Arctic delicacies that are significant to the Northern Norwegian kitchen and cultural heritage. Discover how every part of the Skrei finds its way to the table and the importance of sustainable fishing for coastal communities.

Stockfish: Experience the traditional transformation from Skrei to stockfish, capturing the essence of Northern Norwegian culture. This tasting provides insight into the historical importance of Skrei and stockfish, which have been crucial for trade and food supply since the Viking Age.

Cod Liver: Delve into the history of cod liver as a cornerstone of Arctic nutrition. Learn about Peter Møller’s development of the steam method to extract cod liver oil and its significance for the population during the long, dark winters over centuries.

3rd Floor: Sámi Coastal Culture and Northern Lights Exhibition

Step into the unique world of the coastal Sámi.
