This tour follows groomed tracks. Please check the latest grooming status at www.skisporet.no
Exposed to wind and weather. Sulebu is a self serviced DNT-hut.
Drive on the E16 to Tyinkrysset and park at the ski center (base station of the ski lift). The cross-country skiing track to Sulebu starts with a solid elevation gain up to the Tenla crossing where you reach the high plateau. Here, you keep to the right and continue less steep but ascending all the way to Sulebu. As you gain elevation, the view gets wider and breathtakingly stunning as Jotunheimen appears to the north. The distance from the parking lot to Sulebu is 10 km.
Take a good break at the hut before you return the same way, which now offers continuous and partly challenging downhill runs.
Alternative return 1:
For a round trip, you can use the snow mobile track downhill to Lake Øtrovatnet and Gamlestoga. The last part of the downhill run to the lake is steep and can be rather challenging under hard snow conditions. This return is 8,2 km.
Alternative return 2:
Under good conditions after February 1st, a track is groomed from Sulebu to Vardhovdtinden via Vardhovdflænane (keep straight ahead in the crossing there). The track turns north at the foot of the summit of Vardhovdtinden. You can continue to the summit on foot or by ski out of the track before you follow it to the left (north) and keep straight towards Børrenøse in the next crossing. After 1,2 km you can choose whether you want to go around Børrenøse to the right (more challenging) or the left via Tenla (where you came up in the first place). This return trip is long and should only be attempted by fit and well prepared skiers under good and steady weather conditions.
