Cultural heritage round-trip – combined with a visit to local museums
From the centre of town, ride south along Kirkegata and past Søndre park (Park Café in Søndre park is an excellent restaurant popular with the locals). Follow the signs for Maihaugen. At Maihaugen you will also find the Norwegian Olympic Museum and the national Postal Museum.
After visiting the beautiful Maihaugen, continue along Maihaugvegen/Sigrid Undsets veg past Stampesletta with Kristins Hall and Håkons Hall from the 1994 Winter Olympics. On the left hand side of the road is Sigrid Undset's home, Bjerkebæk, with its stunning historical garden.
Take a detour to the ski jumping arena (see description in the ’94 Olympics round-trip) or continue along Nordsetervegen down to the centre of town. A stop at one of the charming cafés in the pedestrian street is a must, and a visit to Lillehammer Art Museum at Stortorget is also strongly recommended.
