Cycle tour Florø City Centre - Storevatnet - The Coastal Museum - Sørstrand - Storeåsen - Florø City Centre

Start from the Tourist Information Centre in the centre of Florø. If you don't have your own bike, you can borrow a bike from BUA, which is located right next to the Tourist Information Centre. Start by cycling eastwards in Strandgata and turn right at the Strandgata/Torggata junction. In the next block, cross Markegata and cycle further up the hill to Storevatnet. At the start of Storevatnet you can cycle down the path that runs along the lake. Keep left and cycle eastwards along the lake all the way to the end. When you reach the end of the lake, cycle up a small hill to a car park, continue a little further before turning right up over Kleiva on a road. It's fairly steep here and you may have to get off your bike. At the top, it goes down again and you now come to Båtevika.

Keep to the right and you'll see the sea and a boathouse on your right. You're now on a footpath and cycle path, and there are gravel paths and bridges on the way to the Coastal Museum. Just before you reach the Coastal Museum, you'll come to Brendøya, where goats graze during the summer. The goats are gregarious and it is particularly popular to take your children there. At the Coastal Museum, it's nice to make a stop where you can see old boats, among other things. See more about the Coastal Museum here From the Coastal Museum, cycle west along Brendøyvegen to Vågavegen, where you turn left down Sørstrandvegen. There you cycle past a kindergarten and on for a couple of hundred metres before you enter the Sørstrand hiking area

It's one kilometre down to the sea on a gravel road. There are several trails in the area so you can make a round trip. A kiosk and sanitary facilities are open at Sørstrand in the summer. This is a great place to bring your lunch. Once you've had a rest, cycle back along Sørstrandvegen and Vågavegen until you reach the main road, Kinnvegen. Turn right and then left at the first junction. You will now arrive at Soldalen Visitor Centre where there are horses, alpacas, goats and much more.

Here you have a choice:

1. you can cycle up to the mast on Storeåsen. Then turn right just before you get to the farm. It's a steep climb with tarmac before it eases out and turns into a gravel road. Here there is a hilly gravel road over the ridge before you start downhill again. When you reach a bunker, you can take a detour to the left up to the viewpoint where you look out over the Florø forest. Continue cycling down a slightly steep hill where the stadium is right in front of you. Turn right at the junction and cycle a few hundred metres to Lisjevatnet. Cycle along the lake, which is idyllically located just a stone's throw from the centre. When you get to the care centre, turn left and cycle back to the centre.

2. Or you can cycle past the farm and into Røvarhillaren. Here there is a wide gravel path all the way in an easy and idyllic terrain. You will eventually reach Havrenesvegen and then turn right and cycle back to the centre. Contact the Tourist Information Centre for more information about cycling in Florø.
