This is our most populare cycling route. Starting in Brønnøysund and ending up in Sandnessjøen (or return to Brønnøysund), after visiting 3 different islands. Cosy accommodation and great local food along with breathtaking views.
This tour can be completed in many different ways. We (Kystriksveien Reiseliv) are happy to tailor the trip for you so that it is adapted to your wishes and needs in relation to distances, accommodation and places to eat. We can promise you an anventure with breathtaking views and cosy accommodations.
The tour starts in Brønnøysund. You can easily get here by plane, but you can of course also come by car, bus or by ship (Hurtigruten).
15 km outside the pleasant coastal town of Brønnnøysund lies the mountain Torghatten. If you walk up the hole (15 min) you get a great view and you are guaranteed to be impressed with the dimensions. Torghatten is a famous landmark and the hole through the mountain is huge.
From Brønnøysund you travel to the island Vega, a World Heritage. Start with a visit to the World Heritage Center. The Vega stairs are also a popular place to visit. If you walk the 2000 steps up the mountain you will get a breathtaking view. At Vega you stay and eat at Vega Havhotell.
The next stop on the trip is the island of Herøy. You may go by a speedboat from Vega or you take the ferry to Tjøtta. If you choose the speedboat, you arrive quickly and have an unforgettable boat trip where you really get to experience the archipelago at its best. If you take the ferry you will have the beautiful scenery of Tjøtta and the Petter Dass Museum at Alstahaug.
Many people point out Herøy as the ultimate island for cycling. Here the roads are narrow and the many islands (which make up Herøy) are connected by countless bridges. Here, the actual cycling experience is the highlight and in the distance you will see the mountain range De Syv Søstre (the seven sisters) and the island Lovund in the west. A visit to the flower shop Etcetera is a must.
The longest cycle lap of the tour runs between Herøy and Dønna. If you choose to cycle all the way to Dønnes to see Dønnes Church, the trip will be 40 km. Many spend the night at Dønnes Gård, which is the closest neighbor to Dønnes Church. The church was in its time the private church of Dønnes farm. Close by is Mnt.Dønnesfjellet with a view you will not soon forget.
From Dønna you continue on to Sandnessjøen. You can end the tour here if you wish or you can return along road 17 to Brønnnøsyund. In this case, you will need an overnight stay pherhaps at the 200-year-old trading place Forvikgården. Here is also a popular coffee distillery.
It is also possible to end the trip with an island visit to Lovund from Sandnessjøen.
Kystriksveien Reiseliv helps organize the trip. You get a tailor made itinerary and we book necessary accommodation, possibly dinners and bike rental. The service costs NOK 890. Just contact us on post@kystriksveien.no to get started.
Luggage transportation is available on trips starting from Brønnnøysund on Monday or Tuesday.

You can, at an additional cost, have the bicycles delivered to the airport in Brønnøysund. Alternatively, you can deliver your bike to the tourist office in Sandnessjøen or at Stokka Airport in Sandnessjøen.
