Little effort – great views!
Easy trip through pine forest to the Lohaugen vantage point with spectacular views of Espedalen and Jotunheimen.
Start in Peer Gynt Vegen and follow the signs for Lohaugen. At approx. 1.5 km from Dalseter where Peer Gynt Vegen turns left, take a right turn and follow the trail/dirt road towards Lohaugen. Minimal elevation gain; level trail profile. As you reach the sign marked Haugasetra, continue straight ahead and follow signs for Lohaugen.
After 1 km, by the signpost marked Kopparslåa, the trail forks. Turn left and follow the signs towards Lohaugen. The final kilometre is a gentle uphill climb. Follow the same route back to Dalseter. Alternatively, continue up to Bingsbu and Sprenpiggen. To reach the actual Lohaugen vantage point, located to the right of the brown cabin, leave the trail by the Lohaugen sign and continue towards the ridge facing the valley. This is an ideal trip for less experienced skiers and hikers.
Distance: 7 km (there and back).
Duration: Approx. 1–2 hours (in total).
Recommended stop: At the top of Lohaugen with views of the lakes and Jotunheimen. On a clear day, looking west, you may be able to see Galdhøpiggen to the left of Nautgardstind.
Route 255: Lillehammer (from the south) or Vinstra (from the north).
Car park between Ruten and Dalseter along Espedalsvegen.
