"Den Gamle Kommandant"

Cafe and Restaurant in the heart of Fredriksten fortress.

Den Gamle Kommandant is located in the heart of the Inner Fortress, and was listed in 1754 as the residence commander and his family.

Great emphasis is placed on creating the right atmosphere. The design of fixtures, music and taste experiences is in good harmony with simple, rustic dishes and good drinks. The cafe is also frequently used as a venue for literature evenings, concerts theme days and the like.

The café seats 55 guests, and another 70 in connected rooms, where closed parties are also kept.

In the summer, our charming outdoor dining area opens with seating for 60 guests.
