Basecamp Explorer have a 90 huskies that are eager to take you out on a trip while in Svalbard. On this adventure you will learn how to handle your own team of six dogs. They all have their own names and a friendly personality.
The Alaska huskies are the most social animals in Svalbard, and we give them just as much love and attention all year around.
Dogsledding with Basecamp is more than standing behind a sled of dogs. You will participate in the full experience of harnessing the huskies, steering the wagon wheel and socialise with them before and after the run. We will teach you all the basics and supervise you as we go.
The adventure is finished up with a warm drink in our trapper’s hut, and in good weather we can enjoy the snacks under a sun that never sets.
Practical information:
- The guide picks you up at your hotel or guesthouse in Longyearbyen on the starting time of the trip. Form here drive 10 km to Bolterdalen where the dog yard is situated.
- Participation on a dogsledding trip is not recommended for persons suffering from back pains or pregnant women. This is for your safety and well-being. Basecamp Explorer can unfortunately not to take responsibility for health problems due to neglecting this advice.
- This dog sled adventure is arranged from 21st May until snowfall in the fall.
