Meet the sled dogs and embark on a magical winter adventure for nature lovers, dog enthusiasts, and adventure seekers of all ages!

At Freke Wilderness, you’re part of the adventure from start to finish. From meeting the dogs at the kennel to gliding through the snowy mountain forest, every moment is an unforgettable experience. The tour ends with rosy cheeks, happy dogs, and a cup of coffee by the campfire. This is a magical adventure for dog lovers, active families, and anyone eager to unleash their inner explorer.

Half-Day and Full-Day Tours
Freke Wilderness offers both half-day and full-day tours. Every trip starts with meeting the dogs at the kennel. You’ll see how they live, play together, and enjoy the attention from visitors. You’ll help prepare the gear, harness “your” dog, and attach it to the sled team yourself. The eager dogs howl with excitement, but as soon as they set off, a calm stillness takes over.

Gliding through the snowy wilderness, the only sound is the crunch of snow under sled runners and paws. Along the way, you’ll pass stunning landscapes at the foot of Korgfjellet and Lukttinden, while learning about dog training, sledding, and life with sled dogs.

The half-day tours last 2 to 3 hours in total and accommodate up to 6 people. You can either drive your own sled in pairs or ride with the guide. Children must always ride with the guide. Full-day tours are designed for smaller groups of 1 to 3 people and last 5 to 6 hours. Along the way, there’s usually a stop to light a campfire and try ice fishing.

Kennel visit
It’s also possible to visit the dogs without going on a sled tour. You’ll meet them in the outdoor enclosure, where you can greet and cuddle them as much as you and the dogs like. You’ll learn more about dog sledding, how the dogs are trained and cared for, and feel the warmth and joy they bring. This is a great activity for dog lovers, animal-loving families, and anyone curious about life with sled dogs.
