You are invited to enjoy an incredible 360-degree panorama, while dining on dishes made with locally-produced ingredients. Dønnesfjellet is only 128 metres high, but the view is magnificent.

At the top of Dønnesfjellet on the island of Dønna stands a sign showing the directions to look in order to take in the legendary mountains and the beautiful Helgeland coast. Dønnesfjellet rises only 128 metres above sea level, yet still offers truly spectacular views.

From the summit, the scenery can feel magical whether the day brings sunshine or stormy weather. When the mysterious sea fog creeps in, you may catch glimpses of the archipelago far below—or barely see more than a few metres ahead. On a bright, sunny day, you are rewarded with an idyllic and fairytale-like panorama of the Helgeland coast, while enjoying warm sunbeams from one of the terraces. If autumn winds sweep across the mountain, you can experience the drama of the storm safely indoors in the mountain lodge, with something warm in your cup and a good meal, while watching sea spray crash over skerries and islets.

Enjoy mountaintop dining with 360-degree views of the Helgeland Coast

At Dønnesfjellstua, you can choose from simple café dishes, lunch and dinner options—or simply enjoy a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or a beer with a light snack. Only traditional dishes are served, prepared with locally sourced ingredients from the island. Salads, vegetables and herbs are grown on site, while the seafood comes from the local fish landing. The fixed menu includes dishes such as monkfish soup, fish burgers, the “mountain platter,” salmon salad, as well as homemade ice cream and many other treats.

From Dønnes gård, a cultural trail of around 2–3 km leads up to Dønnesfjellet. There is also a road all the way to the top, and whether you arrive on foot, by bike or by car, Dønnesfjellstua warmly welcomes you inside.

Please check the Dønnesfjellstua website and Facebook page for opening hours and further details.
