Drammens Museum
The Drammens Museum for art and cultural history, county museum and gallery for Buskerud is a foundation established in 1996. The foundation consists of the former Drammen Museum, founded in 1908, The Drammen Art association, founded in 1867 and the Gulskogen gård Foundation, established in 1959. The Foundation also included Thaulow - the collection of art and curiositites for Modum Bad, Austad Gård and the Friluftsmuseet. Drammens Museum thus manages a wide cultural historical material of objects, buildings and visual art from older and more recent times. From 2004, the museum took over the operation of Holmsbu Picture Gallery, Henrik Sørensen´s collections, through a consolidation agreement.
The museum is based at Marienlyst in Drammen, but has museum buildings and park facilities scattered in several places in the city. At Marienlyst there are permanent collections of Nøstetangen glass, baroque silver, 18th-century Drammen faience, city furniture, textiles, interiors, church art and folk art, as well as the museum´s permanent art and design collection.
