Drammens Teater

Drammens Theatre is one of the country's oldest and most active entertainment venues!
Drammen has rich theatre traditions dating back to the 1770s. Drammens Theatre, in its current appearance, was completed on February 8, 1870, and was designed by architect Emil Victor Langlet, who also designed the Norwegian Parliament Building. The theatre was modelled after the Parisian theatres Porte St. Martin and Châtelet, making it the country's first "modern" theatre house. The theatre was considered one of the most beautiful in the Nordic region.

An arson attack in 1993 destroyed the Drammen Theatre. The day after the fire, the board of the Drammens Theatre Association decided that the theatre building would be rebuilt in the same style, based on the remaining outer walls. On February 8, 1997, the king opened a brand new theatre, filled with traditions from the old one, and inaugurated it with a proud population of Drammen. The classical appearance combines with modern and efficient technology.
