Egge museum is located just north of Steinkjer center, in a landscape with cultural monuments and traces of the entire man-made history. Get an insight into the interwar Steinkjer, 100 years of tractor history and the Viking history of Egge farm. Children can take part in activities and greet the animals in the yard.
The main building
Here you will find exhibitions, information and ticket sales. The cafe has ice cream, soft drinks, coffee, the best waffles in town and warm apple cake with ice cream. Also take a look at the museum shop! There is an elevator in the building, so everyone can visit all three floors.
Exhibitions
On the 3rd floor you will find the exhibition "Old Steinkjer - portraits of a city". Here you can immerse yourself in the city's history in several ways. In a nostalgic city street you can look into charming workshops and shops from the interwar Steinkjer, and the children can take on the role of country merchant.
On the middle floor with the public reception, you will find two exhibitions . These tell of an exciting discovery from the Viking Age - "Gullgubbene på Mærin", and Viking Age history of Egge farm.
At the bottom floor you will find the exciting agricultural exhibition "Tractor". Here you can see a representative selection of tractors and agricultural machinery that shows how agriculture was modernized with engine assistance - up to the hottest and newest John Deere!
Popular play corners
In the main building there are three play corners for the children. In the city street they have their own shop where they can put on an apron and act as a merchant. In the café there is a play corner under the stairs, and down in the tractor exhibition they can, among other things, drive around on a tractor.
Outdoor museum
Have fun outside at the museum this summer, and feel free to use it as a hiking destination. Here, a pleasant outdoor area has been arranged, which is accessible to guests regardless of the museum's opening hours. Pigs, chickens, sheep and rabbits can be greeted.
Information about activities at the museum is continuously published in the event calendar and on the museum's Facebook page.
Opening hours summer 2023
