The Einarset circuit ia a nice cycling tour on gravel mountain roads and some trails. Wildflowers, bird song and viewpoints are among the things you can experience along the way. Take your time and enjoy the surroundings. On this tour even the youngest can be taken along as it is well suitable for a bike trailer.
Starting point: Kamben Hotel
Distance: approx. 12.5 km
Difficulty: Easy, but a longer uphill passage towards the end of the tour, suitable for bike trailer
Terrain: Undulating, with some uphills and downhills, mostly on gravel roads and 2 km on trail
Highest elevation: approx. 1000 m.a.s.l. near Skutuset
Directions:
From Kamben, start uphill past the Red Cross hut and along Kambegutu. You meet the gravel road towards Storefjell and follow it a short distance until you see a sign to the left reading Einarset. The road soon turns into a trail which you follow through a winding, undulating terrain that is fun to cycle. At the rest shelter we recommend taking a break. The trail continues until it meets a small gravel road which you follow past Turkuppmyre and some idyllic mountain farms. Take your time to enjoy the view and the surroundings. You can see all the way to Hallingskarvet to the west and other beautiful mountain areas to the south. Turn left at the next junction. There are some downhill passages before a small ascend up to the mountain farm Skutuset, where you reach the highest elevation of the tour. Again, a nice view can be taken in. You may be lucky to spot a crane or two. They breed in this area before they leave for their wintering grounds in Spain and Africa in fall. Soon there are some fast downhill passages until you reach the crossing towards Storefjell (left). Turn left and take on the last leg of the trip, uphill back to Kambegutu. From here, you turn back on the same road that you came.
