Elias Blix Cafe on Sandhornøy
In idyllic surroundings at våg in Sandhornøy you can visit Elias Blix`s home farm that has been made into a museum and cafe.
In the summer of 2021, the Elias Blix Café was opened on the homestead Volden to the psalmist, professor, Bible translator and church minister Elias Blix.
Here at Våg, Sandhornøy in beautiful Gildeskål you can enjoy fresh baked goods and cakes in the fine living room, in the peaceful garden or in midwife Dorthe's living room where the Nordland Museum also has a Blix exhibition. There are also authentic objects from the Blix family, and the cradle he spent his first years in are on display.
Elias Blix was born on Sandhornøy in 1836 and was baptized and confirmed in Gildeskål Old Church. As a hymn poet, scientist and church minister, he left a deep cultural impact in his country.
