Elverum church is a cruciform church from 1738. Built in timber with space for 700. Architect: Nikolai Gustav Sandberg. The choir interior of this old timber church is home to one of the finest examples of regency style in any Norwegian church and the altarpiece was probably one of the first of its kind in Norway.
Its most treasured piece though is the crucifix dating from 1200–1300, which hangs above the entrance to the choir.
Elverum church organises a number of activities throughout the week. Service every Sunday at 11am, cultural events and concerts. See the full program at www.elverum.kirken.no, or on the notice board outside the church.
