Experience the Island Bolga

At the end of Meløy you find the island Bolga.

Bolga is characterized by the 339 meter high Bolgfjellet which has been a sailing mark for seafarers who have traveled along the shipping lane through the ages. The hole Bolgbørra runs right through the mountain, and here you can walk over to the other side of the island - an exciting experience.

Bolga has approx. 100 inhabitants, and all live on the southeastern part of the island. Due to the island's shape and geographical location, it has been possible to live here since the ice disappeared for approx. 10,000 years ago. Historically, one can see signs of settlement approx. 8000 years back in time. Over the years, and still today, Bolgværingene have made a living on aquaculture.

Activities
Experience activities that provide adrenaline and a high heart rate, such as deep sea fishing, kayaking, climbing and rappelling on Bolgfjellet. Or activities that help you breathe out and relax, such as picnic on a red checkered tablecloth on a private sandy beach, or wine & dine at the pier.

At Bolga pier you can rent a boat and fishing equipment, and sail around by yourself.

Stay and eat
Bolga pier offers accommodation in sea houses, apartments or fishing pier. The rooms have different sizes, and options for couples, families and groups of friends. Here you can fall asleep listening to the sea roaring just outside the window.

The restaurant here serves quality food with a local affiliation, made with love. Seafood and fish are of course to be found on the menu, but also local lamb and plants from both land and sea.

Get to Bolga
You can easily get to Bolga by speedboat, both from Bodø and Sandnessjøen (and several places in between). Check departure times and reserve a seat on the boat HERE.

If you come with your own boat, you can dock at Bolga's guest pier.
