Museum with a unique collection of objects that take you through the history of cinema nationally and internationally.
The origins of film are documented through authentic, optical toys and old film sets. Here you can explore the first films that were shown in Oslo in 1896, and the museum's own cinema displays historical films from other eras and new Norwegian short films.
The Film Museum also houses costumes worn by major movie stars, themed exhibits with animation, advertising, Norwegian film censorship and a quiz station, as well as some of Norwegian cinema's most famous props and characters.
Closed in July, on public holidays and at Christmas.
