Fishing in Eidfjord

Fishing opportunities in rivers, lakes and the fjord in Eidfjord.

Fishing in the fjord is free. For fishing in rivers and lakes for salmon and sea trout, you also have to pay a fishing fee (here) in addition to the fishing license. The fishing fee is not necessary for fishing in the mountains (only for fishing for salmon and sea trout).

In the Hardangervidda there are many lakes stocked with mountain trout. Fishing licenses here. More information at the tourist office.

Rules for salmon fishing: wild salmon are protected, which means they should be let loose. It’s only allowed to fish salmon for keeps in the Simadal river.

Dates and fishing licence for salmon and seatrout fishing in local rivers and the Eidfjord lake:

- Eio river (from July 1st), licence can be purchased at the YX- Eidfjord gas station.

- Eidfjord lake, northern part (from July 15th), licence can be purchased at the YX- Eidfjord gas station.

- Eidfjord lake, southern part (from July 15th), licence can be purchased at Sæbø Camping.

- Bjoreio river and the lower part of Veig river (from July 15th) you can buy the licenses at Sæbø Camping.

- Simadal river (from July 1st), licence can be bought here.
