The Lågen delta comprises some 20 fish species and offers excellent opportunities and challenges! There is room for everyone – from fly-fishing enthusiasts looking to catch trout, grayling, and pike to families enjoying bait fishing with rod. Zone 1 has a per person, per season quota of max. five trout of minimum 30 cm in Lågen. Trout with unclipped adipose fin should be released back into the water.
Special regulations and quotas:
In the Lågen-stretch from Mjøsa to Hølsauget, fishing with rod and otter board with flies is permitted all year round, but the trout is protected from 1 September to 31 May inclusive. During the trout protection period, only bait hooks and flies (max. hook size 10; no tube flies) are permitted along the Brunlaug bridge – Hølsauget stretch. Above Hølsauget, only rod fishing from land is permitted and only during the period 1 June – 31 August.
From the dam by Hunderfossen, there is a 255 m stretch down to a yellow marker by the river where fishing is prohibited at all times.
Downwards from the yellow marker, there is a 75 m zone reserved for fly fishing only. In river Gausa, rod fishing is permitted from 21 May to 31 August inclusive. Trout under 25 cm caught in Gausa and trout under 30 cm caught in Lågen must be released back into the water immediately.
