(Rogaland, Vest- and Aust Agder, Telemark and Hordaland)
3–6 days, 405 km, 2–3 ferries.
A fantastic round trip across fjords, over mountains and through green valleys. This route combines the best of several scenic roads: National Tourist Route Ryfylke, Lysevegen, Suleskarvegen and Haukelivegen.
Ferry along the Lysefjord and hairpin bends up from Lysebotn. On by road to the Øvre Sirdal valley. At Suleskar, the route crosses the SVR Nature Reserve at a height of 1,050 metres to Brokke in the Setesdal valley.
Follow Rv 9 up Setesdal, turn off onto the E134 at Haukeligrend to Røldal. On your way you pass Haukeliseter, a gorgeous highland hotel operated by the Stavanger Turistforening. In Røldal, the stave church is worthy of a visit. From there, take Fv 520 to Sauda or follow Rv 13 all the way south to Forsand.
Detour to Telemark (126 km):
At Rotemo in Setesdal, take Rv 45 to Dalen and visit Grimdalstunet, Dalen Hotel or the famous Telemark Canal. Continue past Eidsborg stave church to the E134 and then head towards Åmot and Haukeligrend. In summer the Suleskarekspressen pendles between Stavanger and Åmot, www.nor-way.no.
