A UNIQUE TOUR DESIGNED BY OUTDOORLIFE NORWAY! Wintertime is the perfect season to get outdoors and experience a unique adventure in Fjord Norway! Enjoy the magic of trekking for two days through the Lysefjord's vast wilderness, and relax in the comfort of an über-modern mountain cluster-lodge.

Wintertime is the perfect season to get outdoors and experience a unique adventure in Fjord Norway! This time of year, the region’s countless hiking trails are nearly deserted, and often blanketed in snow, allowing visitors to experience Norway’s beautiful nature in near-solitude. Join Outdoorlife Norway on a serene, two-day winter trek, and experience a hint of overnight luxury in a sleek mountain lodge.

This early in the year, weather conditions are constantly shifting. You’ll trek 2-5 kilometers through the beautiful Vinddalen (‘wind valley’), which includes an elevation gain of 200-400 meters. Toward the end of the day’s trek, you’ll pass Tyre Gorge and shortly thereafter, arrive at Skåpet, your home for the night.

Skåpet, which was opened in August 2016, is a unique designer mountain lodge facility that consists of a cluster of small cabins. Your guide will prepare a hearty warm meal for you in the main cabin. Each of the sleeping cabins have a glass wall facing the tranquil Sodda lake, which provides panoramic views of the water and surrounding mountains. All the cabins are heated with Norwegian wood-burning stoves.

After a good night’s sleep and hearty breakfast, you’ll continue trekking eastward through upper Vinddalen. During the hike, you’ll bridge another 200 meters of elevation before reaching the highest point of the trek, 800 meters above sea level. Along the way, you’ll pass mountain lakes, abandoned seasonal farms, and have abundant opportunities to enjoy spectacular views of Flørli and the Lysefjord.

Flørli, which has been inhabited on and off since at least the seventeenth century, is beautifully located amidst 1000-meter-high mountains along the southern shore of the Lysefjord. Your arrival at Flørli marks the end of your trek. From there, you’ll board a ferry that will transport you back to the mouth of the Lysefjord. During the 1-hour cruise, you’ll pass waterfalls, abandoned farms, and the famous Preikestolen cliff, which towers 604 meters above sea-level. Once ashore, you’ll be picked up by a bus, which will transport you back to Stavanger.
