Northern Norway Tromsø

Fjord Cruise & Whale Safari - Arctic Expedition

  • Strandveien 106, Tromsø
  •  /  km From You
Overview

Are you ready for a cruise in the amazing winter fjords of Northern Norway? Wildlife, fishing, aquaculture, local villages, the weather and the elements in the Arctic as well as the Arctic landscape, and of course beautiful fjords. This is what is waiting for you.

As an extra treat for you, from late October to mid-February some of the world’s biggest mammals visit the coast outside Tromsø to feed on herrings. The most common whale species we see are the humpback whale, killer whale (orca), harbour porpoise and sometimes even the fin whale. You are invited to come on board to take a close-up look at the feast.

Please note that whale sightings cannot be guaranteed, as a consequence of weather conditions and whales natural behaviour. The arctic weather forces are an unpredictable force that can change quickly and wild animals behaviors are affected by weather, food recourses, temperature and undiscovered causes. Due to these changes the tour can be amended at short notice. This can make the route, duration and destinations different from day to day.

This is a fjord cruise that includes searching for whales, the natural forces can make strong influence on the result of the whale searching, the arctic weather is one of the experiences this cruise offers. Also, if the whales does not come as early as we expect, or leave earlier than expected, we will still offer the fjord cruise.

The catamaran has comfortable seating inside for 146 guests as well as spacious decks outside on two levels for excellent viewing and photo opportunities. There is a kiosk on board to purchase hot expedition meals, snacks and cold drinks.

N.B: The winter weather in the Arctic changes quickly. Due to these changes the tour can be amended at short notice, even during the trip. This can make the trip shorter or longer as well as using different areas from day to day.
