Eastern Norway Vestfold og Telemark PORSGRUNN

Frierstien

  •  /  km From You
Overview

Frierstien is an excellent walk of 9-10 km and forms part of the coastal path in Porsgrunn.

Frierstien connects the areas along the Frierfjord west of the Eidanger area in Porsgrunn. Parts of the trail have been used by humans since the dawn of time. Either as a way to settlements, or in connection with fishing, forestry and agricultural activities. Later, outdoor enthusiasts discovered the lush forest and the many vantage points. The paths were thus maintained.

Frierstien is blue-marked
Frierstien is now blue-marked and signposted by POT (Porsgrunn and Omegn Turistforening) as part of the coastal path between Brevik and Herøya. A nice trip of 9-10 km, and if you walk the whole stretch, you can take a bus back to the starting point. There are bus stops close to the path both in Brevik and at Herøya.

Access
From Herøya:
Park at Herøyahuset. From the car park it is easy to find the path. Follow Torggata road for a short distance, choose the second road to the right and then follow the road to the end (Axels Auberts gate). This is where Frierstien starts.

From Brevik:
Park at Dammane and follow the blue marked trail towards Herøya.
