Frydenlund in Aurdal was the most visited tourist spot in the 1800s. The famous author, Knut Hamsun, was a frequent visitor and he came to regain his health, breathe in fresh mountain air and eat nutritious meals. It was here, in the small culture town of Aurdal at Onstadmarken, he wrote his reknowned romantic novel «Victoria».
