2010-Galleri-Nord-Norge_reference

An arena for a broad range of artistc expressions, exhibiting of local, national and international artists.

Galleri Nord-Norge shows annually between eight and twelve exhibitions, either in the form of solo exhibitions or group exhibitions. All art forms are represented, and the exhibition program includes both national and international artists. Arctic Arts Festival has the gallery as a permanent arena during its festival in June. Throughout the year, concerts, lectures and workshops are also arranged in the gallery.

Galleri Nord-Norge is located in what was once the city's swimming pool, designed by Norwegian architect Jan Inge Hovig. Hovig has made his mark in Harstad and Northern Norway with other characteristic buildings such as Harstad Kino, Harstad Church and the Arctic Cathedral in Tromsø. In 1999, the building was converted into a gallery by A3 arkitektkontor AS, and today it appears as a welcoming venue for displaying contemporary art.

Exhibition programs can be found at www.gallerinn.no and concert programs can be found at www.harstadkulturhus.no (Norwegian text only)
