Child friendly hike with great view.
Gjuvhovd has become a very popular tour and is especially child friendly. The tour starts at Gjuvså in Tinn Austbygd and takes about half an hour one way. At the top you will find a great viewpoint with fantastic views over Lake Tinnsjö and Gaustatoppen. Along the route, many nice trolls are placed so that the children can count how many they find.
Description of the tour:
Start: Gjuvsjå
Length: 1.5 km and one road
Time: about 30 minutes one way
Difficulty: medium
Child friendly: Yes
The trail starts at Gjuvsjå, and there are two alternative paths which are approx. equally long.
Alt.1: Start at the parking lot at Gjuvsjå and follow the road approx. 30 m. Follow the tractor road. After approx. 100 m, a path goes left up towards the top. After approx. 500 m, the trail is narrower through the forest, but is well marked. At the top where the two paths meet, take a right onto Tinnsjøen and pass a campfire, before descending slightly towards a great viewpoint and campfire.
Alt.2: Start approx. 700 m. Past the parking lot in the direction of Hovin. Here there is a road to the right vis vis Gjuvsjå in the direction of Tinnsjøen where there is a powerful yellow boom. About 50 meters from the boom, an ATV road goes right to the top. Follow this all the way. At the top where the two paths meet, take a left onto Tinnsjøen and pass a campfire, before descending towards a great viewpoint and campfire.
Alt.3: Both trails can be combined for a round trip, following the asphalt road approx. 700 m.
