Granby Farm is situated in Selbu along route 705, Selbusjøen and the pilgrimage route (Romboleden) from Sweden to Trondheim.

Emigration from Norway/Selbu to America - An historic experience in a historic environment.

Granby Farm is a farmyard from 1912 with a completely renovated barn based on the principle of “conservation through usage”. The museum contains Norway’s largest collection of photos from the Norwegian settlement and functioning in America. The gold rush to Klondike in Youkon, Canada and Nome in Alaska is central in the exhibition since the farm is funded by gold money from Alaska. The exhibition contains a rich variety of literature, maps and documents on the subject. The architectural design and craftsmanship of the barns inside, where old meets new in a nice harmony, is in itself worth a visit. The same goes for the great selection of old embroideries which has been used in new ways in the interior together with other artifacts and objects from the 20thcentury. Selbu is one of the communities in the Norway with the largest emigration to America, in relation to population. Selbu was central in the start-up of the emigration from Central-Norway. Granby Farm has, with its exhibition, preserved the history of Selbu and Norwegian emigration. The building contains meeting facilities in a unique historic environment. We offer overnight stay for pilgrims and serve freshly ground and fairtrade coffee together with local food.
