The tour lasts approximately 30 minutes and takes you through the harbour and around the city’s islands – completely emission-free and with minimal noise. Along the way, you gain insight into both the city’s past and present, seen from the waterside.

The boat departs from Viking Adventure’s visitor centre on Risøy (Sundgata 167A), about a 10-minute walk from the cruise quay and approximately 15 minutes from Haugesund town centre.

The tour begins at Viking Adventure’s art gallery, where guests meet the captain and guide before departure. From there, the boat follows the harbour front and continues through both the inner and outer waterways that have shaped Haugesund into the vibrant coastal town it is today.
Along the route, you will hear about Haugesund’s history as a herring town and its development into a modern maritime and offshore-focused region. The tour passes several well-known landmarks, including historic harbour buildings, the iconic Stålehuset and the Aibel shipyard.
The boat also passes the cruise quay, offering a unique opportunity to view your cruise ship from sea level. You will also get a glimpse of everyday life along the waterfront – from busy harbour areas to quieter residential neighbourhoods.
Keep an eye out for the statue of Marilyn Monroe, a well-known and much-loved symbol of Haugesund.
After the boat tour, guests are welcome to enjoy local cider and traditional Norwegian waffles at Viking Adventure.
