Guided cider tour from Tyssedal along the Hardangerfjord

On this tour, you'll visit local cideries, taste world-class cider, and enjoy the breathtaking views of fjords and mountains. Whether you're a seasoned cider enthusiast or just curious to try something new, this tour offers a rich and memorable experience.

Meeting point: Departure from Tyssedal Hotel with a short introduction by a guide from Trolltunga Adventures.

Your day begins with meeting the Trolltunga Adventures guide in Tyssedal Hotel. They'll take you on a scenic bus ride of about 45 minutes. Along the way, the guide will share insights about the Hardanger region as you pass through beautiful landscapes on the way to Ola K Cider House and Restaurant and Kvestad Sideri.

The bus ride is brief, but allows you to see the beautiful Sørfjorden from three different perspectives and pass by the beautiful Ædnafossen waterfall.

Upon arrival at Ola K, we begin the cider tasting experience. In a private tasting room, we sample four different ciders — one of which won the award for Cider of the Year in 2024! Our cider experience starts in the cozy tasting room, where you'll sample a selection of award-winning, farm-produced ciders. Enjoy a carefully curated cheese platter, crafted specifically to highlight the rich flavors of the cider. Ola K is beautifully located right by the fjord, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and waters as you enjoy the pairings.

After the visit to Ola K, we continue to a viewpoint where we get up close to Folgefonna. The magnificent glacier at close range is a spectacular sight, and with farms, apple trees, and the stunning Hardangerfjord surrounding us, this is a beautiful place to stop before continuing on to Kvestad Sideri and Farm. On the farm, you'll enjoy a guided tour of the cider farm, including a walk through the picturesque apple orchards. You'll gain insight into the cider-making process, all taking place right here in the Hardanger region.

Kvestad also offers spectacular views over the fjord, making it a peaceful and scenic spot to soak in the surroundings. You'll also have the chance to stop by the farm shop to bring home a bottle or two of local cider.

After the visit, the bus will take you back to the starting point in Tyssedal.

How to get to Tyssedal from Bergen:

By car:
The distance from Bergen to Tyssedal is approximately 140 kilometers, and the trip takes around three hours by car. 

By public transport:
There are several alternative routes from Bergen to Tyssedal. For example, you can take the train to Voss and continue by bus to Tyssedal, or take a bus all the way from Bergen. You can also take a boat to Rosendal and continue by bus to Tyssedal. Route options and schedules can be found at Skyss.no. Travel time varies from about 3,5 to 4 hours.
