Join our guided hiking trips to the top of Møysalen. Every year from the end of June to the end of September you can join our guided hiking trips to Møysalen – The original route.
Experienced mountain guides from Møysaltur BA will take you on a journey of nature experience in the Møysalen National Park, where the highlight will be standing on the highest mountain in Vesterålen.
Møysalen is fabled, and with its 1264 meters above the sea, it gives you spectacular views in every direction. What a lovely way to see our beautiful region.
Our guided hikes include transport by boat from Hennes to the inner part of the fjord Lonkanfjorden, where the trip starts. And you will literally get the feeling of going from sea level up to "the roof of heaven".
Practical information
The trip starts at 09.00 am – show up about 30 minutes before to registrate and get useful information.
The trip takes about 10 hours and starts with a 20-minute boat trip into the idyllic Lonkan fjord. In Lonkan fjord we have our own floating dock for boarding and disembarking.
No special extra equipment is required, but dress for the conditions and wear hiking boots, preferably with ankle support. Poles are recommended, otherwise your own clothing according to the weather conditions.
Bring food and drink for 2+ breaks. There are good opportunities to refill fresh and clean mountain water along the way up to about 650 meters above sea level.
You should be in good physical shape and preferably a little used to hiking in the mountains. Hiking to Møysalen should therefore not be the first day trip of the year. In some slightly demanding sections, the trip can feel quite "airy" (exposed), but our mountain guides will help those who may find the height intimidating. If the hike becomes too tough, you can stop whenever you want and wait there until the rest of the group returns from the summit.
A certain level of physical fitness is required, and if someone is unable to maintain a relatively normal pace, the hike may be interrupted for them.
Registration
Registration for the tour you wish to take must be done no later than 48 hours in advance.
When registering, please provide the names of all participants and a contact person's telephone number.
Meeting point is at Møysalen National Park Center, approx. 0830 for registration and information, unless otherwise agreed.
The minimum price for a tour is ?,- (6 participants). Cancellations less than 48 hours before the start of the tour will incur a cancellation fee of NOK 250 per person.
Note! All tours are subject to weather conditions. Decisions are made the day before. If there is a cancellation, all registered participants will be contacted by phone.

Where to find us
We are located in Møysalsenteret at Hennes, Hadsel Innlandet in Vesterålen.
The easiest way to get to the starting point is by car. Follow FV 822.
If you come via the LoFast connection, it is possible to take a car-carrying express boat between Hanøy and Kaljord. Kaljord is then only 5 min. drive from Hennes.
The express boat also runs between Stokmarknes and Kaljord, but only with passengers and not cars. It is approx. 25 min walk from Kaljord to Hennes.
We must point out that the express boat does not have timetables after the tour group has come down from Møysalen, and you must then make sure to get home from Hennes on your own. Alternatively, you can stay overnight at our campsite to take the express boat the next day.
