Guided tour in Fitjar

Get to know how Haakon The Good and hear how he fought with Erik Bloodax’s sons

Walk a cultural- historical trail, and learn about king Haakon The Good. One of the most beloved Scandinavian rulers of the 10th century.

The trail is easy to walk, and suitable for the whole family. During the tour we will take you to Håkonarparken and the statue of Haakon the Good. Here you will hear about Haakon The Good and his last battle to christianize Norway, which happend here in Fitjar in c. 961. Afterwards, we will go to the king's well and then the south end of the church, where you will hear about the old stone church that once stood there. The last stop is Rimsvarden cairn, one of the largest prehistoric burial monument. The cairn is located 118 meters above sea level, and has a fantastic view over Fitjar village and islands.

At each stop there will be a treasure hunt for the children.

The trail is 2 km, and the duration is about 1 hour.
