Haaheim Gaard is a historic boutique hotel on the island of Tysnes in Sunnhordland, Fjord Norway. Surrounded by gardens, fjord views and open landscape, the estate combines accommodation, dining and event facilities in one distinctive setting.

Haaheim Gaard offers 23 individually designed rooms and suites, each with private bathroom. Most bathrooms feature freestanding clawfoot bathtubs, and several rooms overlook the fjord and sunset.

The interiors are inspired by historic manor houses, with reproduced wallpapers and carefully selected details. Each room has its own character, creating an intimate atmosphere that feels both elegant and grounded in place.

Dining and gatherings

The restaurant serves seasonal cuisine based on local ingredients from Fjord Norway. Dinner is served in historic halls where conversations last longer and the pace naturally slows down.

The main dining hall accommodates up to 70 guests, while the concert hall seats up to 80 for dinner events. Additional spaces such as the wine cellar, lounge areas and winter garden make the estate well suited for weddings, anniversaries and cultural events.

Weddings and celebrations

Haaheim Gaard is a sought-after wedding venue in Sunnhordland. The ceremony, reception and accommodation can all take place on the estate, allowing the entire celebration to unfold in one location.

Conferences

The estate offers meeting facilities for up to 50 participants, making it ideal for executive meetings, leadership retreats and small conferences in Fjord Norway.

Its island location provides privacy and focus, while the surrounding landscape offers space to pause between sessions.

The garden

The cultural garden is central to the experience at Haaheim Gaard. Hundreds of roses and rhododendrons bloom through the seasons, alongside fruit trees and herb beds. Paths wind between old stone walls and quiet corners.

The garden is not simply decorative; it shapes the rhythm of a stay here. Guests move between indoors and outdoors, between conversation and stillness.

Haaheim Gaard is easily accessible from Bergen, Stavanger and Stord by car and ferry.

From Bergen, the journey takes around 1.5 hours in total, including a 35-minute ferry crossing from Halhjem to Våge and a short 10-minute drive to the hotel.

From Stavanger, travel time is approximately 3–3.5 hours by car and ferry via Halhjem.

From Stord, the trip takes about 1–1.5 hours, including a 10 minute ferry from Jektevik to Hodnanes and a 30-minute drive across Tysnes.
