Hamnsundhelleren
Hamsundhelleren cave is situated in Haram municipality, and here remains of weapons and tools from the Stone Age have been discovered.
The cave was excavated for the first time in 1877, when both bones and a 2000 years old human jaw were found. Since then the cave has been excavated on several occasions, and in 1992 a 40 metres long tunnel was dug out by using modern machines.
The findings in the cave tells of human settlement several thousand years back, and the more than 15.000 bones from animals, fish and birds that have been discovered tell us of a thriving wildlife, in a arctic climate.
