Stay in an idyllic and fascinating environment at Norway’s northernmost trading post which is still in operation. The views are impressive at Havnnes Handelssted, which is situated at the southern tip of the island of Uløya.
Stay in a historic house at the trading post or in the nearby settlement.
Havnnes, which is described as one of the most beautifully situated trading posts in Norway, was awarded the prestigious St Olav’s rose in 2014. The St Olav’s rose, which is the hallmark of “cultural experiences that are out of the ordinary, is awarded by the Norwegian Heritage Foundation.
Archaeological findings from the Stone Age demonstrate there has been human settlement in the area for more than 6,000 years, while rock art on the western side of the island is probably between 5,000 and 7,000 years old. This rock art site features 8-10 painted figures.
You can stay in a historic house in the settlement at the trading post where most of the buildings date from the 19th century and are listed buildings. Alternatively, you can stay in one of the three holiday houses in the village.
All our houses maintain a high standard and are fully equipped.
