Come and enjoy the wildlife around the Wharf, visit the exhibitions and our cafè. This old trading post is today a museum where the old wharf building is kept authentic with its country store and postoffice.
Hemmestad Wharf had its heyday in the 1800s. From Hemmestad went cargo vessels to Bergen twice a year. They brought clipfish, transform, birds and cloudberries south. In return was sloop loaded with exotic goods such as coffee, spices, sugar candy, textiles and spirits.
Trading is now a museum, where the old pier house is intact with shop, post office. . . let yourself be lured by exhibitions and café amid maritime environment.
