Fishing and activities
Hesstun has 3 rental boats, and many guests come here to fish. If you start off at Hamnøya island, then a visit to Esøya island is an excellent trip, especially if you are “rock crazy”. On Esøya there is “graffiti” from 1600 - 1700 – and the 1800s. The seamen who used to go ashore here used the steatite cliffs as a spot to carve their names here – and the names of their ships. An entire cove was also blasted out here – and this beautiful stone was used as the foundation of Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim. Esøya island is also used by locals as a grill-party site and as a nice swimming beach with its own boat dock.
