Gjevdenuten in the northern part of Åmli in Southern Norway, is a somewhat demanding trail of 6 kms, taking about 4 hours return trip.

You can park at the start of Aust-Agder Trekking Association's trail to Mjåvasstøyl. Gjevdenuten is 908 metres above sea level, making it one of the highest mountain peaks in Åmli. At the top of Gjøvdal by Gjevden you follow the trekking association's trail towards Mjåvasshytta.

It's relatively steep country most of the way up to Gjevdenuten. At the top, before Mjåvasshytta, you turn right at the sign, and follow blue marks. After about 30 minutes from the crossroads you'll reach the Gjevdenuten peak. There is a fabulous view at the top, and remember to sign the guest book.

There is a map available of the hiking trails in Gjøvdal and Tovdal, and you can obtain more information at the local tourist information at Åmfoss kafeteria. The tourist association has marked trails from Dølemo and Øvre Ramse. From there you can go hiking to the Hardangervidda if you wish!

Part of the peaks of Åmli project. Check out www.amli.no, Produktark, to find a map of the route.
