Hike to Kaldestadåsen from Kaldestad

Above the spruce wood, there is a lovely view into the Hardangerfjord and out to the Sunnhordland basin.

Starting and finishing point

Kaldestad, at the turn-off from the RV main road for the southern road down to Prestnes.

A few parking spots at the starting point.

Blue. Moderate, two boots pursuant to the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT) system.

One hour there and back.

Overview

After 50 metres, the path ascends steeply through a spruce wood. Above the spruce wood, there is a lovely view into the Hardangerfjord and out to the Sunnhordland basin. Follow the signs along the gentle ascent to the lean-to at the top.

Recommended advice

The path is rather marshy in places so wear appropriate footwear. There are also a number of alternative ascents and descents to Kaldestadåsen. Study the walking map and use your imagination to put together interesting walks.
