Svårthylkyrkja is a enormous half pothole close to Espeliåna at the northern end of the Gjevden lake, approximately 2 kilometres south of Vindilhytta. This very special place has remained hidden for thousands of years and there aren’t many people who know of its existence. It is possible that this area was habitated many, many years ago.
The area was cleared and benches are placed here. There is a big open fire area and seating for about 30 people. Use a raft over the Svårthyl lake to reach Svårthylkyrkja. The raft is worked by pulling on ropes, so you get plenty of exercise before you arrive.
If you would like a unique outdoor experience combined with good food, contact Astrid Raudåna at Vindilhytta.
