A lovely trip in relatively easy terrain. After starting by Smalvatnet (the gateway to Børgefjell/Byrkije National Park) you follow a well-marked path along Mattisveien to Namskroken. The little forest hut in Namskroken was built more than 100 years ago. When you walk towards Namskroken you will walk into one of Norway’s most beautiful national parks – Børgefjell. We ask all hikers to adhere to the laws and regulations surrounding movement in national parks. It is possible to rent a cabin in the area from Namsskogan Fjellstyre. Feel free to bring a fishing rod but remember to buy a fishing license (Børgefjellkortet).
Directions: From E6, drive towards Smalåsen/Smeelehaesie and follow the gravel road along Smalvatnet to the gateway to Børgefjell National Park – the starting point for the trip. Remember to pay the road toll fee if you use a vehicle.
Sleep, eat, see and do:
Namsskogan Fjellstyre (namsskogan-fjellstyre.no), Nyheim Camping (nyheimcamping.no), Vertshuset Nams-Inn (nams-inn.no), Fylkesgrense Trøndelag – Nordland/ county border.
