Exciting glacier walk, kayaking on beautiful fjords, spectacular treks, a historic cycling trip and Europe's best known train journey are a few of the highlights on this week-long trip in Fjord Norway. We take you to several of Norway's most famous attractions – as well as a few hidden gems that very few people know about.
With kayaks, bikes and mountain boots, you will get to experience fjords and waterfalls in the land of the midnight sun. We gather up at Finse on the Hardangervidda mountain plateau, the highest-altitude station on the classic railway between Oslo and Bergen.
Surrounded by glaciers and national parks we will hike on the glaciers of Hardangerjøkulen, and cycle the famous Navvies' Road (Rallarvegen). Through world-class natural scenery we will cycle a 1,200-metre descent down from the mountain to Flåm on the Sognefjord.
Out of the magnificent fjords of Flåm, you get to experience the beautiful fjord landscape by foot as we trek down the famous valley of Aurlandsdalen. A different view and experience await us, as we kayak on the beautiful fjords. While being active we will follow narrow spectacular valleys as we pass small farms, huge impressive waterfalls, and wild nature.
The narrow Nærøyfjord is a branch of the large Sognefjord, and this is where we go on a overnight kayaktrip. The fjord is on UNESCOs world heritage list. The 18-kilometre (11 mi) long fjord is only 500 metres (1,600 ft) wide in some parts. Widely famous for being one of the worlds most beautiful and dramatic fjords.
The first two nights we stay in a comfortable mountain hotel, then two nights in a guesthouse by the fjord, the last night we go deeper into nature and sleep in comfortable tents so that we can really get in touch with the Norwegian nature.
