Inner Nordmøre is a true paradise for walking tourism! Here, nature is at its lushest, diversity enormously and variations virtually endless. In this area you can find new destinations and new scenery every day - all year round.
The area located in the middle of Norway, between the cities of Trondheim, Molde and Kristiansund. The scenery ranges from mountain plateau to the sea. In between lies the fertile mountain valleys, meadows and forests, fjords and valleys. Large parts of Trollheimen mountains and Sunndalsfjella belong to Inner Nordmøre and Tourist Association fjord route passes through this area on its way between the ocean's edge in Kristiansund in south and Trøndelags green landscape in the north.
In this area there are more hiking routes than tourists and you can walk undisturbed by marked routes for days. Wildlife is diverse in this region and the chance for true wilderness experiences are many. In the area close to Dovre you can see musk oxen. You often get to see moose, deer and reindeer in this area. Wolverine and lynx are regularly observed, and all the world's small animals and birds often gives you a glimpse if you walk quietly and with caution.
In the fjords you can see the porpoises go for the herring, and mackerel makes wawes in the summer sun.
In Sunndalsfjella you find all 24 peaks with heights more than 1800 meter above sea level, and the station for measuring the best air quality in Europe is situated at Kårvatn in Trollheimen. There are many starting points for walks in the Inner Nordmøre and a well-developed network of trails and many mountain huts, private and owned by the tourism association, makes it easy for you to explore this diverse area.
Many places is suitable for biking and if you bring your fishing rod, you can catch your dinner yourself from one of the hundreds of fishing lakes in this area.
Hunting is possible. Contact the tourist information offices or hunters' and fishermen associations in the area if it is interesting.
Are you a gatherer is a trip to indre Nordmøre a good option. In late summer there are large deposits of blueberries, cranberries, cloudberries and mushrooms in these lush mountain regions.
