Hiking route: Marsteinvola
At the top of Marsteinsvola there’s a beautiful view over the Trondheimsfjord.
To get to the top of Marsteinvola, you have many trails to choose from, but this map shows a roundtrip starting at Raudflovatnet (Raudflo Lake) (Inderøy municipality). However, you can just as easily start at the Stubbsetertjønna lake in north (Steinkjer municipality).
Parts of the trail is steep, not very well marked, but easy to follow. You can wear sneakers when the weather is nice, but boots are recommended.
Start at the car park at the Raudflovatnet (follow the sign «Oldtidsveg» from E6, Røra and drive almost to the end of the gravel road). From the car park, follow the gravel road alongside the water, and keep left in the first cross. At the next crossing, follow the sign “Marsteinvola” to the right and then left up a steep hill. Follow the road and then the trail all the way to the top.
Seating area and beautiful view at the top!
On the way down, follow the trail south-west, on the western side of the antenna. The trail is relatively visible over the marshes, and ends on a gravel road. Follow the road northwards to the end, and then the dirt road/trail. By the information board continue straight north towards “Stubbsetertjønna”, and then left towards the car park. At the first crossin on the gravel road, you can either continue straight ahead on the same road as when you started or turn left and then right, straight through the woods after some hundred meters before continuing on the gravel road to the car park. Please note that the Raudflovatnet is the local source for drinking water, and that camping and bathing is prohibited.
