Difficulty level: Moderate
Season: June–Sept
Hovde reigns supreme among Opdalen’s summits, boasting outstanding views over Siljan.
Description of hike
The hike starts at the top of the village of Snurråsen. From there, you follow a blue-waymarked footpath up the hillside via an old farm track. This will take you up to Kløverødtjønn lake, from where you follow a logging road down to Hogstad. Continue along the road for approx. 1.5 km to where the road takes a clear turn after Tveitatjønn. The path then turns right and heads steeply uphill to the summit.
For a longer, more challenging hike, you can turn off towards Kløverødkollen at the first intersection. From there, the path continues over the hill and down to Kløverødtjern.
Access
Take county road 32 from Skien to Siljan, turning left towards Siljan church. Then turn right into Snurråsen immediately before the church. You’ll find a parking area right at the top of the housing development. You can also take the P7 bus, which starts and finishes at Snurråsen bus stop. From there, it’s 1.2 km with an elevation gain of 70 m to where the hike starts at the top of Snurråsen.
