Experience the Cultural Heritage of a fjord landscape inaccessible by road
The tour starts at Teigland with a short boat journey to the sunny side of the Åkrafjord where there is no road. The hike starts from Kvandal farm to Eintveit farm, or the opposite direction and provides spectacular views of the Åkrafjord. The area has an unique flora and fauna. The trail passes old settlements reiminding you about the people living here until 50 years ago running their small farms. You will visit a bridge built for vehicular traffic in 1962 before funding dried up leaving it to stand as a lonely symbol of a dream about a road on this side of the fjord.
The terrain is varied and some times steep, intended for those whose physical contition is average. 3-4 hours walking including lunch-break.
The tour is available on request; with local guide for groups or with only boat transport for individuals.
Small backpacks with lunch can be provided. Lunch consists of tasty locally produced cured meats, fruit and water.
