Historical guided tour at Hiernagla Brenneri distillery - Sveio
Hiernagla Brenneri distillery is a craft distillery that was founded in 2018. They produce whisky, gin, aquavit and rum at Ekrene in Sveio. On a one-and-a-half-hour guided tour, you can discover the history behind the distillery and the local area, get an introduction into how Hiernagla makes its spirits, and even get the chance to taste some.
You can experience a guided tour and tasting at Hiernagla Brenneri distillery, which is just ten minutes north of Haugesund. On arrival, one of the founders will give you a guided tour of the distillery. This is where they produce world-class whisky, gin, aquavit and rum. First on the agenda is the history of the distillery, from a sailing trip in Scotland to its establishment and the start of production in autumn 2019, spiced with a little local history, and the lines that can be drawn from 3,000 years ago and up to the present day. This will be followed by a tour of the production facility, where you follow the journey of the grain to the finished whisky in the cask. You will also discover how they make gin and how they managed to win double gold on their very first attempt at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. If you like, you can end the tour with a tasting featuring a selection the spirits the distillery produces.
A guided tour with tasting takes about one-and-a-half hours. If a guided tour is not currently being advertised, please contact Hiernagla distillery to make an appointment. Guided tours are suitable for groups of 6–20 people, and there is wheelchair access. The age limit for tasting is 20 and there is no age limit for guided tours.
