Easy walk from Hjelmelandsvågen and onto the Hjelmen - the outcrop that has given the town its name as it supposedly resembles a helmet. The hill is largely forested, but on the top you have a nice view across the Jøsenfjord to Ombo, Nesvik and randøy. And onto the town of Hjelmelandsvågen of course. You'll also see the sculpture "Northern Winds", popularly called the lady on the Hjelmen.
More sculptures and a nice meal can be enjoyed at the Spa-hotell Velvære, on the shores of the fjord below. The walk is suitable for young children.
