Overview
Details

Hjerkinn Mountain Lodge at Dovre is Norway’s oldest family business, and it is the 12th, 13th and 14th generation, Anne, Anne Stine, Martin and family that welcome you to the coach house and mountain farm, 1000 meters above sea level.

Accommodation

The lodge has apartments, hotel rooms and a pilgrim hut. There is a dining room for 70 guests, a meeting room for up to 35 guests, lounge with a fireplace and a small bar. We also have a campsite for caravans and tents, an outdoor hot tub and a sauna. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere and we serve traditional Norwegian cuisine.

Hotel

Rooms with private bathroom, TV, fridge and kettle. Bedlinen/towels and breakfast included.

Apartments

One or two bedrooms, private bathroom, kitchen, living room and Internet. Bedlinen/towels, end-cleaning and meals are not included.

The Pilgrim hut

A timber cabin from the year 1720, with five beds, electricity and heating. Showers and toilets are in the building next door. You need to use your own sleeping bag. Meals are not included. Reserved for people walking alone.

Camping

Campsite with 40 pitches.

Horse-riding holidays

We have riding tours for novice and experienced riders, children and adults. The age limit is 12 years. Each day we divide into groups according to experience, each with its own pace, letting riders get the most out of their riding trip. You will have the possibility to try «tølt» and cantering.

NB: Icelandic horses are relatively small in size, so the maximum weight limit for riders is 95 kg.

We ride across fields, in the mountain and across rivers, following beautiful trails through the birch forests. On Saturdays we ride into the musk oxen’s domain, on the lookout for musk oxen, wild reindeer and horses grazing in the mountain pastures.
